Do cigar humidors with drawers not keep the humidity?

Question by : Do cigar humidors with drawers not keep the humidity?
I went to a store today to check some cigar humidors out. I like the kinds with drawers, they look cool but the guy when I asked about the ones with drawers told me its not a good idea because they don’t keep the humidity as well as the ones that are simply a box. Is this true? Why would this be?

It is more difficult to seal a drawer. The box with a top-closing lid uses gravity to keep it secure. The box is not just designed to keep humidity in, but to keep some humidity out. We don’t want our cigars too wet or too dry. We want that balance of humidity to keep them fresh. If you prefer the ones with drawers then might I suggest if you have the space to build a walk-in humidor where you can keep the box with the drawers? Otherwise I would go with the top-closing lid. Good luck.

This is the beer, wine and spirits area and your question seems to have nothing to do with any of these. Try posting it in a more appropriate area and you’ll maybe get a more useful answer.
